Tints can be used for much more than just sunglasses. Sufferers of migraine, epilepsy and photosensitivity can all find that a slight tint in the spectacles can work wonders.
All sunglasses should also provide protection against harmful ultra-violet (UV) radiation. Some lenses, such as Transitions Signature, already provide 100% UV protection, but some materials do not. We can have a coating applied to the lenses which provides that protection.
If your spectacles undergo a great deal of wear and tear, resulting in scratches on the lenses, you may find a scratch-resistant coating is helpful.
Anti-reflection coatings can help enormously, especially for driving and VDU use. They can also make the spectacles look better, with a less 'glassy' appearance. At Buckingham Opticians we can show you the difference between various anti-reflective coatings, and can demostrate the improvement in lens performance and vision. They are also scratch-resistant, and some are water-repellent, grease-repellent and anti-static, making them easier to keep clean.
